Guided by their belief in the “unity of human race”, Bahá’ís are engaged in many discourses as well as a wide range of socio-economic development projects relevant to shaping the future of our current and future societies. Bahá’ís have been engaged in world affairs over the past 70 years as the largest non-governmental organisation of the United Nations under the banner of Bahá’í International Community (BIC) with offices in Geneva, New York, Brussels, Addis Ababa and Jakarta. Bahá’ís believe that all human beings “have been created to carry forward an ever-advancing civilization,” and hence every nation, community and individual has the responsibility to contribute to building a peaceful, prosperous and just global society.
Bahá’ís believe that humanity is in the midst of an ongoing process of spiritual, moral, social, and scientific development and that it stands today at the threshold of a new stage of global connection and interdependence. The hallmark of this stage will be a growing awareness of the oneness of humankind – a principle that will come to infuse all facets of organized life.
