In its expectations for a global world society, the Bahá’í Writings state that “Every nation and every group, indeed every individual will contribute to the emergence of the world civilization towards which humanity is irresistibly moving”. Bahá’ís around the word, particularly at the community level are striving to build capacity for community building and enabling people to become active agents for change. Central to these efforts is the recognition of the oneness of humankind. Within such a context, development is no longer seen as one group of people assisting another group. Instead, all individuals, whether materially rich or poor, young or old, woman or man, engage in a common enterprise of development. All work shoulder to shoulder to contribute to the welfare of the whole.
Bahá’i teachings encourage each member of the community, particularly the younger generation, to acquire balanced intellectual and spiritual powers to become builders of vibrant communities in an environment where the common purpose is realised through consultation and accompanying one another on the path of service to the society.
